Boise State has self-imposed sanctions on its football program as it faces NCAA allegations charging the school's athletic program with a lack of institutional control.

The NCAA brought the charges after finding 22 violations, including a major violation in women's tennis and minor violations in football and three other sports, according to a report made public by the school and the NCAA on Monday.

The Broncos will have at least three fewer preseason practices before their game against Georgia on Sept. 3, according to documents obtained by The Idaho Statesman.

The school also will have three fewer scholarships to give in the next two years, and three fewer practices before the season opener against Michigan State in 2012 as well, according to the report.

The NCAA can accept these punishments or dole out stiffer penalties following its Committee on Infractions meeting June 10.

glad to see they took the initiative, even though their football violations were incredibly minor, IMO. Hopefully the NCAA doesn't take out any unreleased anger on them that should be directed towards Auburn and Ohio State.

In other news: they have GA this year and Michy Lite next? I am really starting to wonder about "no one will schedule us". How do they get these games year in and year out?

Tech pussing out created some issues for sure but they are marginal profile at best. Baylor? Meh. Sheesh! They always have a high profile game OOC.

Those are both away games. Schools are willing to play home games or home "neutral site" games against Boise, but they're not going to give Boise a return trip. Oregon made the mistake of scheduling a home-and-home schedule with Boise, and they won't be making that mistake again.

It sort of like how Wisconsin would happily schedule us, as long as we're willing to travel across the country to Madison, Wisconsin and then expect no return game from them.

Just curious but what type of self imposed sanctions will the NCAA give themselves for "lack of institutional control". They sure have let the institutions fall out of control for major violations but can only catch the small guys with minor violations and turn into a cluster $@$.

Michigan State agreed to a return trip to Boise.

Yeah, but that was Oregon before Kelly was head coach, before Thomas was QB and before they had LMJ. I think Boise would have more than they could handle with the current Ducks.
