Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson joins football coaching staff at Arlington Oakridge

The Southwest Preparatory Conference 3A school announced Tuesday that Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson has been named its run game coordinator and running backs coach. The five-time Pro Bowler, who was the NFL MVP in 2006, will join a team that is coming off a 7-3 season.
Tomlinson has ties to Texas, having gone to Waco University High School and then run for 5,263 yards and 54 touchdowns in four years at TCU while finishing fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2000. Tomlinson joined the Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame on March 1.
He was the No. 5 pick in the 2001 draft by the Chargers and ran for 13,684 yards and 145 touchdowns in an 11-year NFL career that ended after the 2011 season. He ranks seventh in NFL history in career rushing yards and second all-time in rushing touchdowns, trailing only Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith.
It came six days after Oakridge announced that it has hired Jeromy Flowers as its new head football coach.
