DMN: 5 reasons to be optimistic about TCU football in 2021, including offensive depth and experience
By Katherine G Griffith
At the conclusion of spring football, we thought it would be a good idea to give TCU fans five good reasons they should be optimistic about the 2021 season. This is the first of a two-part series. On Friday, reasons to be pessimistic will be released.
Running back depth
An established run game was the key to success for TCU in 2020. When the Frogs ran the ball for more than 200 yards in 2020, they were undefeated. The running back core was young and inexperienced last season, but with another year under their belts they are more in line to excel next season. For a team that didn’t lose any running talent during the offseason, fans have every reason to be optimistic about the run game in 2021.
Cornerback success
TCU is known for its outstanding defense, specifically in pass coverage. The 2020 team totaled 44 pass breakups and eight interceptions. Tre’Vius Hodges Tomlinson led the team with 13 breakups and C.J. Ceasar II led the team with three interceptions. They are both on the roster in 2021.
