Diehards: Kenrich Williams makes Sports Illustrated’s 2018 NBA Draft sleeper list

Hunter Cooke

Kenrich Williams is in “good position to get drafted at this stage,” according to Jeremy Woo of Sports Illustrated, who spoke to NBA scouts about the prospect.

The former Horned Frog has the size and hard defense to make it in the league. He only averaged 13.2 points per game, but also averaged 9.3 rebounds per game.

The downside for Williams? He’s a little bit old for the draft process, and has mostly developed, so there isn’t much upside for scouts to be enthralled with.

SI called him "perhaps the most NBA-ready prospect at Portsmouth."

The NBA has become a specialists' league--one elite skill is all it takes to earn a living with an NBA team. Kenrich is more all-arounder rather than specialist, thus the "glue guy" tag. I'm not sure that label will help him; will be interesting to see when and where he goes in the draft.
