Dalton to start for Carolina this weekend

Just saw on the NFL network crawl that Young won't be playing at Seattle this weekend. That means Andy is up. Young has only been averaging about 4.5 yards per completion. Surely Andy can beat that. If he gets a dub, they may ride him and let Young learn. Git'r done, Andy!
He has had a hell of a career. (And could not happen to a better person.) Would love to see him get into the 40,000 yrd club.

Had no clue he was that close. Pretty good group to be in if he can get there.
These are the QBs ahead of Dalton, amazing group to be with...and think, he hasn't been the desired QB for 4 years. Cold be 4-10 higher...just a shame.

Yeah, if AJ Green had just given max effort while he was with Andy he may have already reached the milestone. Andy has had a great career.

Agreed, then the Bengals screwed up, let their best OL and 2nd and 3rd best WR go without replacements, spent a 1st and 2nd round busts on the OL replacements, and then drafted busts at WR because they refused to trade up for the sure things. Awful franchise that HE took to the playoffs five straight times just really screwed his career when he was cut loose.

Really similar to the chargers screwing themselves (and LT) drafting a QB rather than a WR just because they didn't think Brees was their guy. Good call. These teams just can't help themselves: see J Fields, and Bryce Young for fans clamoring for rookies wastes of space. Draft a WR in the first round and use Dalton to go to the playoffs instead.

Heck of an accomplishment for Andy, no doubt, but that is a strange looking list. Roethlisberger, Rivers, and Ryan ahead of Dan Marino. Joe Flacco and Kerry Collins ahead of Joe Montana and Johnny Unitas.

More than anything else this list shows how different the game has become in the last 15 to 20 years.

I had the se thought. Marino would have thrown for 100,000 yards in the modern NFL. That's only slight hyperbole.

Huge hyperbole. 90,000 for sure though.
90K would have been very doable for him had he played 17 years from 2006 - 2023. He may have even played more seasons bc he'd be so much better protected in the modern game.

I'd love to have seen guys like Warren Moon and Elway in today's game. Randall Cunningham is another who'd tear the modern league up. They'd have a field day every Sunday with modern PI rules and QB protection rules.

Was I supposed to type something here?
Consider that Unitas put up those numbers under the OLD rules... When Marino and the rest of the Class of '83 entered the NFL, the passing rules had just changed a couple of years before. Thus "new" records were established. Like now, with the ludicrous rules preventing the playing of defense, "new" records are being set. It's just the NFL trying to look like like some new greatness is upon us, when instead it's just the imbecile Goodell and his crew debasing the game.

What I find very odd is that, while the offensive statistics of today dwarf those of past eras, teams aren't really scoring more points than they were before. The average points scored per team has basically been between 20-23 pts since the 1950's.

I realize they weren't playing as many games as they are today, but you look at some of the per game statistics and wonder how any team scored 30 points in a game back then. But they were. Almost as much as they do now.
