A steady hand propels Iowa State as Cyclones host No. 4 TCU

To better understand Iowa State’s emergence this season, rewind to the second week of the season, when coach Matt Campbell addressed a heartbreaking home overtime loss to Iowa.
Rather than lament critical dropped passes or get sucked up in the emotion of a narrow loss to the in-state rival, the second-year coach colored every comment he uttered with optimism. He sounded like the winning coach.
But the sentiments weren’t hollow. Campbell knew how close his team was to breaking through.
