AP: Kansas loses in battle of attrition 27-17 to TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas — Kansas head coach Charlie Weis knew it would take some old-time football for the Jayhawks to win at TCU Saturday.
A game plan featuring runs up the middle and punts worked for much of the game. It wasn't enough to prevent a 27-17 loss, the Jayhawks' 23rd in a row in the Big 12.
"We knew we were going to be conservative," Weis said. "We would run 2 yards and 3 yards, and we figured we'd punt the ball a bunch of times. My game says we're going to have to play around 20 (points), and that's where they hovered."
Kansas (2-3 overall, 0-2 Big 12) trailed just 24-17 entering the fourth quarter, but the Jayhawks' four possessions began no farther out than their 15 yard line. ...
