Role reversal led to a reversal of fortunes for the Albuquerque Isotopes on Saturday night.
 
Former closer Sam Demel pitched five shutout innings as a starter, ex-starter Matt Magill excelled in relief and Walter Ibarra delivered a walk-off single as the ‘Topes pulled out an exciting 3-2 home win on fireworks night.
 
It was an unlikely scenario to say the least, but Albuquerque manager Damon Berryhill and his club were only too happy to take it. The Isotopes had two outs and the bases empty in the bottom of the ninth before getting three hits and a hit batsman to produce the winning run.
 
“Our pitching was great and we got some big at-bats there in the ninth,” Berryhill said. “It was a low-scoring battle the whole way, so to get that kind of rally was really a momentum-builder.” ...
