Abilene Reporter-News: Chris Thomsen to join Todd Graham's staff at ASU

Abilene Christian University head football coach Chris Thomsen is leaving Abilene to take an assistant coaching position at Arizona State University.

Thomsen, who has guided the Wildcats the playoffs in six of his seven seasons at ACU, will coach offensive backs. Among those he coached at ACU was Bernard Scott, the Harlon Hill Trophy award winner who now is a member of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Probably because he felt this was a step he needed to make to get into major college coaching and maybe one day become a head coach at this level.

Chris just a really good dude, one of my favorite former teammates ever. Hope being associated with Graham doesn't turn out badly for him.

Tom Hardgrove hit 23 in 1989, Thomsen 21 in 1991 and Connally 23 in 1997. However, Thomsen hit 5 hr's in a double header against Northeast Louisiana on March 2, 1991. That record will probably stand awhile.
