TCU Powers Its Way Past San Diego, 9-2
JAMIE PLUNKETT
TCU took control of their opening series against San Diego with an impressive 9-2 win over the Toreros on Saturday night.
The Frogs jumped on San Diego early, with Chase Brunson hitting an opposite-field, two-run home run in the top of the first inning to put TCU on top 2-0. Toreros starter Logan Reddemann issued a walk to Isaac Cadena in the next at bat, before settling down to strike out the side. In fact, Reddemann retired the next 14 TCU batters after issuing the walk to Cadena, keeping TCU within reach into the fifth inning.
After striking out the first two batters of the fifth, Reddemann left a pitch up to freshman catcher Nolan Traeger. Traeger made him pay, launching his first career home run to right field, extending TCU's lead to 3-0.
