Monday Manager: A Trend Appearing

A strong Friday win was once again undone by the rest of the weekend, as a trend is beginning to appear in 2025, as TCU dropped two of three to Arizona State in their first Big 12 series of the season. That marks the third time in five weekends this season that TCU has won on Friday only to lose the next two games. That same scenario happened three times in all of 2024.

TCU won Friday's contest 3-2 behind a two-run home run from Noah Franco and an excellent relief appearance from Braeden Sloan.

The Frogs proceeded to give up 38 runs on 40 hits over the next 18 innings, falling on Saturday in a historic defeat, 26-9. Arizona State matched the most runs allowed in TCU program history while setting a new record for most hits allowed (28) as they evened the series.

From the article: While (Sloan) seems to have found a role that fits his pitch mix perfectly, necessity might demand that his role shift sooner rather than later.

Thank you.

The Frogs have lost all but one Sunday game played in Texas.
I said at the beginning of the season after losing 2 weekend starters, we’re either going to have to have made significant improvements in our bullpen, or be an active and efficient hitting team. I didn’t think we could have gotten so bad in our pen that scoring 11 and 9 at home would lose us games.
