If the problem is pervasive and persistent, it comes from the top. Sonny will get another year at least, of course, because firing him would be expensive and our schedule is so poor we will likely finish 7-5. But it will be a 7-5 so thoroughly unconvincing that for me it won't be any better than 5-7 was last year. This program has made no visible progress in two years following up from a 13-win campaign.
Outside of two seasons, we are 39-42 since 2015. And we were 11-14 in our first two seasons in the B12. This isn’t a recent phenomenon brought in by Dykes and crew. Not sure why people seem to think only recently the program began to slide, or that 9-3, 8-4 type seasons should be considered “average”. If we can finish 8-4 that would be the 5th best season we’ve had in the 13 years in the B12.Average is as average does…
Mediocrity has been achieved. Great job, Sonny! We almost lost last week because the offense disappeared for half a game. We lost this week because the defense was terrible all night. Nine games in we haven't played a complete game yet. We only did once last year, against BYU.

With an awful lot of help from Gary.Mediocrity has been achieved. Great job, Sonny!
And a "winning record" and a Bowl Game (The Hebrew Nation All Beef Hot Dog Bowl!) will keep the miserable mediocrity around for yet another year. This. However, the lesson isn't that TCU sucks. The lesson is that without a dynamic mobile QB in today's college football, you will be an average team. The real problem that TCU has is that we continue to recruit 1 immobile QB for every mobile QB. If one or two do not work out, then you could be stuck with a four to six year window with an immobile passer...which is where we are now with no real solution in sight.Outside of two seasons, we are 39-42 since 2015. This is true. And I have a some hope that Avalos will fix things on that side of the ball. Hope, not optimism. I wouldn't be surprised at anything between considerable improvement to ten wins and abject failure to sub-500 next year. This staff doesn't fill with me confidence but this league is also not that tough. With average defense we are 7-2.
You're right. This isn't recent. The point is that TCU has an opportunity to move this program's ceiling up because there are no giants in the new Big XII and while we don't have some of the advantages that big state schools enjoy our location affords us other advantages that most other schools in this league likely view with envy. The right coach should be able to turn TCU into one of the consistent powers of this conference. It doesn't look like that coach is Sonny at present rate ofOutside of two seasons, we are 39-42 since 2015. And we were 11-14 in our first two seasons in the B12. Just stop….the quarterback is not the problem.This. However, the lesson isn't that TCU sucks. The lesson is that without a dynamic mobile QB in today's college football, you will be an average team. Max and Trevone should have shown all of our coaches that with a QB who can pass and run...you can win any and almost EVERY game (see Houston's QB beating Kstate with 100 yards passing...and SMU becoming a world beater when switching from their passing QB, to their Boykin clone). Unfortunately, GP was pretty bad at math, trends, and stats...and Sonny doesn't really seem to have any redeeming qualities unless what is needed is to be nice to people and get out of the way for a season (after screwing up the original QB decision, of course).
If you just go pure air raid, then you're doomed to have a 9 win ceiling...and all scenarios below that.
The QB is certainly not the only problem; however he has not been very careful with the ball, leading to a league high TO rate, which has been directly a factor in losing games. The Baylor game is the first clean one without TO's. I do wish he had the ability to move around more. Seems like some missed opportunities for playmaking.Just stop….the quarterback is not the problem.
