MSN: Colts feel Ben Banogu’s best starting point is at DE

The Indianapolis Colts have emphasized versatility on the defensive side of the ball when looking at prospects over the last few drafts, including the second-round selection of TCU's Ben Banogu.

When he was first selected in April's draft, the Colts had ideas to start him out as a linebacker-specifically working from the SAM position. However, after seeing him run around during the spring workouts, the Colts feel defensive end is his best starting point.

"We thought that moving him now to play end is probably the best starting point for him relative to who he is, what he brings to the table and where can he impact our defense the most at the earliest fashion or the earliest way," defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus said during minicamp.

I hope their instincts are better than they were for Jerry Hughes...
They tried to squeeze Hughes into the LB spot and was touted as a "failure." Looks like this staff knows better. GP has a great track record for putting players in their best spots.

By "instincts" I meant the player's instincts.
