I don’t want to hate on Bunce who inherited a tricky position, but I REALLY hope we have a plan at kicker next season that isn’t Bunce, Hatfield, or Song. Our touchback percentage has to be among the lowest in P5, and FGs (even PATs) were iffy all season.

I’d even be happy keeping Bunce at PK as long as we can have a kickoff specialist capable of booting it out the back of the EZ.

just FYI, postgame said Bunce was sick and in the medical tent most of the night when not on the field. he did a good job for us sans a couple PATs.

sidenote - also said Gaines was battling a stomach flu of sorts.

Gaines was battling pass catcher too!

Gaines was a monster last night. He got burned on the wheel route, but aside from that he was impactful on seemingly every play. I felt like they got offensive and defensive player of the game awards wrong. Offense should have been Des White and defense should have been Gaines.

When you think back on who stood out in the game last night, they were mostly young'uns.

Blacklock
Bethley
Gaines
Sewo
Reagor

the future is bright. If McKinney can come in and lock down a starting tackle spot that will go along way to shoring up the offense.

Glad to see a Gaines mention. Watching the game again and he did have a couple of breakdowns but he played a helluva impactful game on D and on special teams. He not only got the pick but forced that weird delay fumble and made at least two probable TD saving tackles. Pretty sure the RB wheel and seam routes are a schematic issue more than a personnel issue.

This. The OL and DL starters will be interesting to monitor especially if Banogu leaves early. Selfishly, as many do I hope Banogu gives it another year.

I'll be honest, I would be surprised if Ben B leaves. He came out strong early and seemed to disappear down the stretch. Maybe teams were focusing on him, which allowed Boesen flourish?

No idea, but I think another year in the program could do him wonders. Granted he has been here for two years now, but starting at ULL (I think) probably didn't do him much good. And my guess is that he was a little slower to develop (which is why he started at ULL?) so maybe he is just coming into his own?

A friend of mine saw Ben Ban a day or so before the game and she had a pic taken with him.
She asked him if he was going to come back and he said yes; then he paused, and said I’m thinking about it.
Seems like he is really on the fence with this decision.

I don't understand what is up with Song. Is it mental or is he injured?
I thought the rumor going around was that his inability to play maybe wasn't his decision or the coaches', but rather someone else with his surname. That could just be a rumor though.

It will all depend on where he's projected to get drafted, but I honestly think his stock will drop in the coming weeks and months leading up to the draft. Hopefully if he does decide to come out that isn't the case. I think he's a good, solid player but his play the second half of the season didn't suggest a 1st or 2nd day draft pick kind of guy to me. He made some nice plays of course but IMO was far from dominating. But who knows, the NFL scouts know way more than me about this stuff, and he supposedly has all the measurables they look for.

Does anyone know how close he is to graduating? That can be a major factor that isn't considered by fans very often.
