Archie Griffin, 1972 Heisman Trophy winner, took the ball seven yards deep in the backfield and followed 300-pound freshman fullback Pete Johnson off the right side. A hole opened up and Griffin sprinted to daylight. Eighty-eight thousand Ohio State fans roared their approval.

No. 89, Texas Christian defensive end Ed Robinson fought off Johnson’s block and stuffed Griffin after an eight-yard gain. This is the same Ed Robinson who will produce and act in “The Full Monty,” a Yuma Community Theater play opening March 11 at Gila Ridge High School.

Yuma has a lot of colorful figures and Ed Robinson is one of them. Bronx born and raised, Ed graduated from Iona Prep High School in 1970. To say that Robinson was a good athlete is an understatement. His talents weren’t limited to football at Iona Prep. In basketball he scored more than 1,000 points and battled against a host of future NBA players including ESPN’s Len Elmore. ...
