As officials went to the monitor to look at the play, a full can of beer was tossed onto the court from the stands. Soon multiple water bottles were also heaved onto the floor, prompting Tech coach Grant McCasland to get on the microphone to plead with fans to stop.

I have recounted this story before on KFC. My freshman year (Spring '70 semester), TCU swimming was in Lubbock for a dual meet (back when TTU had a swimming team). After the meet, the TCU swimmers went to support the bball Frogs and during the game, a solidly mentally balanced Tech fan threw a metal folding chair at me. It was my introduction to SWC/Tech nonsense. Side note: I did win the 100 yard freestyle during the meet. Might have been the only TCU first place all season. We were truly awful in those days. Doing much better during this week's Big XII meet.
