CORVALLIS — Mike Riley starts his 10th season as the Oregon State head coach today when the Beavers open drills with a 2 p.m. practice, and it’s still with the anticipation and excitement he felt at his first practice as an assistant coach some 35 years ago.
“The good thing for me is I’m nervous about every camp, so it always feels new to me,” Riley said. “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve liked it more.”
Much like spring practices, Riley views the first couple weeks of August as a time for “teaching ... and watching your team develop and hopefully, with good preparation, you can have some fun with the games.” ...
