TCU Golf 2020-2021

Yep - good news we are in the top 6

bad news is we had a 6 shot cushion and gave it up to end with 1 shot cushion over 7th
I believe only 5 advance, according to the FSU golf website. We need to overcome Ohio State (4 shots ahead) or Georgia (6 shots ahead) and hope nobody from behind us gets hot tomorrow.

It's going to be tight tomorrow.

Out in Albuquerque, No. 1 ranked Oklahoma is in ninth place after two rounds and in danger of not moving on.

Meanwhile, in Stillwater, Sam Houston is playing with only four players because the NCAA disqualified William Holcomb (-6 the first day) because he he was staying with someone who tested positive for COVID. Holcomb did not test positive, but the NCAA wouldn't let him play. Another disgraceful NCAA decision.

Just off-the-charts ridiculousness. Sink probably thinks it was the right move. lol.

Seriously, if I were this kid (or hell, even a parent of his), it'd be all I could muster to keep from totally going off on the idiots who made that decision. Enough of this inane BS is enough.
In a sane world, they would have sent him out on the course with a marker who had already been vaccinated and he could have posted a score.

In a sane world, they would be done testing and if they are really concerned about it then mandate that the people working the tournament are tested or vaccined. Even that would have been overly cautious and over the top at this point. I'm at golf courses a couple times a month....always crowded. Nobody gets tested, checks for vaccines, wears masks, anything, etc.....business as usual. How is this any different? Does COVID only spread at sanctioned events?

And then people wonder why people like me aren't more patient and understanding. It's because people are acting like a bunch of goddamn clueless idiots is why.

There was some justice. Sam Houston finished fourth and will advance.

Play has started. Mateo birdied the first two holes, but Georgia and Ohio State are off to quick starts, too, and have each gained a shot.

Interesting that Georgia, TCU and Ohio state are playing the back nine first, while the three leaders are on the front nine. Then Kansas, Georgia Southern and LSU are also on the front nine. This may give the illusion that Kansas, GSU and LSU are gaining ground early on.

Feel like to stand a chance Celli and Frimodt are both going to need to -2 or better along with Mateo shooting one of his best rounds

would help if Ohio St #1 struggled with a over par round also

Georgia came to play today and seems to be making hay on the back - which will probably distance them enough that we end up with a 4 team battle for the last spot

And Kansas has gone crazy on the front - 9 under through about 6 on average with 3 guys at -2 or better

they still have to play the back - which has been playing much more difficult but right now TCU is still 4 back of 5th because Kansas has made a big move early

flyfishing, what would you prefer: Having to make birdies late to catch up on the easy nine, or having to make pars late on the hard nine to hang on?

We're in first situation, and Kansas and Georgia Southern are in the second.
