Message board chatter says newspaper guy feigns disinterest in the team during slumps etc., by pretending to read the paper. Talk is he has been asked to stop as it is disrespectful to the home kids and is not good old fashioned opponent ribbing. Apparently the dancing girls earned his ire. Presumably house painters lifting legs would have been cool.
