The second PI should have been seen and called by the ref 3 feet from the play not the one in the middlemof the field.

The SMU receiver involved in that play was #17 I believe.
Maybe he got mixed up. It was a bad call regardless.

Possible. Didn't notice that. The ref was plenty late with the flag.

I was going ballistic after he said that, I couldn't believe the ref was calling out a number that wasn't on the field.

This is what I found strange when watching the game live. A PI was just called that took an INT off the board and the CBS-CS crew completely ignored it.

Now they did acknowledge the second PI with a replay and Rich Rod saying he disagreed with it.
