AP: Baylor bowl-eligible for first time since joining Big 12
WACO, Texas -- Jay Finley rushed for a school-record 250 yards, Robert Griffin threw for a career-high 404 yards and four touchdowns and Baylor became bowl eligible for the first time since joining the Big 12, beating Kansas State (No. 22 BCS) 47-42 Saturday night.
Baylor (6-2, 3-1) has not played in a bowl game since 1994, back when the Bears were a member of the now defunct Southwest Conference.
Griffin was 26 of 38 passing and Finley averaged 9.6 yards per carry to key an offense which gained 683 yards, breaking a school record that was set three weeks ago.
One week after thumping rival Kansas 59-7, the Wildcats (5-2, 2-2) missed out on becoming bowl eligible. Kansas State hasn't played in the postseason since 2006. ...

AP: Michael Hayes, Bryce Beall rush for 2 TDs each as Houston crushes SMU
DALLAS (AP) -- Michael Hayes and Bryce Beall rushed for two touchdowns each as Houston defeated SMU 45-20 on Saturday night.
Hayes ran for 86 yards and Beall added 85 for the Cougars (4-3, 3-1 Conference USA), who have won two of four games since star quarterback Case Keenum was lost for the season with a knee injury. David Piland, a true freshman making his third start, completed 19 of 32 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown.
Zach Line rushed for 106 yards and Kyle Padron threw for 318 yards and two touchdowns for SMU (4-4, 3-1).
Receiver Tyron Carrier had a big special-teams TD for Houston. After the Mustangs got within 24-17 on Padron's 29-yard scoring pass to Cole Beasley in the third quarter, Carrier returned the ensuing kickoff 91 yards to re-establish a 14-point lead and squash SMU's momentum.
Carrier caught three passes for 42 yards to give him 34 straight games with at least one reception, which is tied for the fourth-longest streak in the nation.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tre Lamb threw three touchdown passes as Tennessee Tech defeated Tennessee State 21-10 on Saturday night.
The Golden Eagles (4-4, 3-2 Ohio Valley Conference) trailed 3-0 in the first quarter after a 21-yard field goal by Tennessee State's Jamin Godfrey.
Lamb's 22-yard touchdown pass to Tim Benford gave Tennessee Tech a 7-3 lead with 12:29 left in the second quarter.
The Tigers (3-5, 0-4) took a 10-7 lead 1:03 before halftime on Jeremy Perry's 84-yard touchdown pass to Calvin McNairl.
The Golden Eagles took the ensuing kickoff and marched 51 yards in 51 seconds before Lamb's 6-yard touchdown pass to Zack Ziegler gave Tennessee Tech a 14-10 halftime lead.
Lamb's third touchdown came on a 3-yard pass to Benford with 3:01 left in the third quarter.
McNairl had 131 yards receiving for the Tigers, who outgained the Golden Eagles 361 yards to 200.
