Hanging it up? Seriously? That kid can play, he just hasn't stayed healthy. He could set the world on fire at a lot of places.
I get what you’re saying but he couldn’t stay healthy in Big 12 play…and not just stay healthy, he couldn’t even complete what, 3-4 games? What makes you think he will ever be able to stay healthy in the SEC??

No way he’s setting the world on fire at an SEC school….not because he necessarily can’t but mainly because he won’t be able to walk.

Chandler Morris can draw inspiration from Michael Penix—
“By the time 2021 rolled around, injuries were starting to take a toll on Penix's mind. He told the Pac-12 Network earlier this year that he dealt with mental health struggles as a result.”

“Penix got a fresh start under Washington coach Kalen DeBoer, who was his offensive coordinator when Indiana won eight games in 2019, and Penix has been able to push the slew of unfortunate injuries out of mind to become a legitimate NFL prospect.”

But Morris has to have a continued love for the game, and maybe he has lost that after two disappointing years, or maybe he never did love it. And he is small, and I think he has admitted to a mental battle - fear.

Weird take…South Carolina is a much better program than Vanderbilt, which is where we have to resort to finding our transfer qb…
Do you evaluate players based solely on the team they currently play for? Are there QB transfers from Michigan, Bama we are not pursuing and would they necessarily be better than an experienced QB from Vanderbilt just because of the current jersey they wear?

He was going to be done playing until South Carolina called him.

It appears his Dad works at Clemson. South Carolina called him and convinced him to visit. He was planning on hanging it up. He also has close friends that attended South Carolina and are encouraging him to check it out.
If he's just looking for a college environment I'd suggest Clemson any day over USC. Nothing redeeming about the place other than the baseball stadium. Clemson on the other hand, has a world class campus in many ways.

Right. Is anyone worse than Indiana? I bet a transfer from there would be terrible...
Not only that, but Penix had his problems with injuries, and his QB ratings were dismal. He's an amazing success story.

At Indiana, he completed 59.4% of his passes and had an overall QB rating of around 132. For reference, Morris completed 65.7% of his passes at TCU and had a QB rating of 145.4.

But Penix can sling it like few in the college game, and that's what DeBoer saw. Look at what he did when he got some elite players around him and some good coaching.

Just shows what the right combination of changed fortune, a good coach, and player X factor can do. Maybe Johnny Tape-fingers is that coach for Seals or Hoover. We'll see...

Exactly. No predictive evaluations about player recruitment success fits in a spreadsheet. It is almost all intangibles, unique circumstances and unpredictable luck of the draw that results in chemistry/mojo or doesn’t.
