Just got to watch the WC final. Croatia deserved better. The first goal off a set piece awarded for a dive sucks as does the 2nd one for a ball to hand handball in the box (correct call, just incredibly unlucky). The game would have been totally different without those two things.
What a great game, though.
Now that it's over I've got to ask why Olivier Giroud hasn't caught as much hell as Raheem Sterling did since he also didn't score a goal in the tournament.
I ask this a little tongue-in-cheek bc Giroud was fantastic for France the whole tournament. He created so many chances for his side it'd be foolish to suggest France would have been better without him. But Sterling was just as troublesome for opposing defenses as Giroud albeit in a different way. The point is the same, though. Criticism of Sterling is ridiculous unless Giroud gets the same critique.
