COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Pairings are set for the 2011 Mountain West Baseball Championship, which will be held May 24-28 at Tony Gwynn Stadium on the campus of San Diego State University in San Diego, Calif.

Seventh-ranked TCU (40-15 overall) captured its sixth straight regular-season title and No. 1 seed in the tournament after ending Conference play with a 20-3 record. Utah (28-19 overall) finished second in the league standings with a 16-7 mark and earned the No. 2 seed, followed by BYU (29-25 overall), who will be seeded third after going 11-12 in Conference play.

San Diego State (21-34 overall) finished fourth in the MWC standings at 11-13 and will be the No. 4 seed, while UNLV (33-23 overall) will be the fifth seed after closing out league action with a 10-13 mark. New Mexico (16-39 overall) rounds out the field as the sixth seed following a 10-14 finish against league opponents.

The opening round of the double-elimination tournament takes place on Tuesday, May 24 with No. 3 seed BYU taking on No. 6 seed New Mexico at 3 p.m. PT, followed by No. 4 seed San Diego State vs. No. 5 seed UNLV at 7 p.m. PT.

The first of three games on Wednesday, May 25, will feature the losers of Tuesday's games in an elimination contest at 11 a.m. PT. Second-seeded Utah will play the highest seed to advance from Tuesday's opening round at 3 p.m. PT, while top-seeded TCU will take on the lowest seed to advance from Tuesday's contests at 7 p.m. PT.

The championship game is set for Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m. PT, with a second championship contest slated for 1 p.m. PT on Saturday, May 28, if necessary.

For the fifth consecutive year, the entire Mountain West Baseball Championship will be televised live on The Mtn.-MountainWest Sports Network. In addition to The Mtn.'s production, CBS Sports Network will simulcast all games of the tournament. The combined reach of the two networks will make the championship available in more than 90 million homes nationwide.

Single-session tickets are available at a cost of $12 for adults and $10 for youth (3-14) and seniors (55+). Those tickets are good for admission to all games on any one day of the tournament and may be purchased on the San Diego State Web site (www.goaztecs.com), by phone at (619) 283-74378 or in person at Window E at Qualcomm Stadium (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT). All-session passes, good for admission to all games, are also available. Prices for those tickets are $40 for adults and $30 for youth and seniors.

The winner of the Mountain West Baseball Championship will earn the league's automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Baseball Tournament Selection Show will be shown live on ESPN, Monday, May 30 at 12:30 p.m. ET.

You only have to watch the 4th quarter of the Mavs game (or any NBA game), and hopefully the Frogs have game 1 in hand early. Nonetheless, sucks that they conflict
