Katy Times: Baugh, O'Brien and now ... Dalton

By Terry Carter

Andy Dalton has led Texas Christian University’s football team where no Horned Frog has gone before. And now he is a TCU football legend.

Winning the Rose Bowl 21-19 over an 11-1 Wisconsin team that finished the regular season as the Big Ten co-champions, the Horned Frogs earned their first-ever 13-0 record. Senior quarterback Dalton – a former passing machine for the Katy Tigers who now stands 6-3 and weighs a solid 220 pounds – completed 15-of-23 passes for a touchdown to lead his college team to one of its biggest wins ever.

The Horned Frogs received three first-place votes and finished the season ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press Poll – their best finish in the AP poll since winning the 1938 national title.

He accounted for 247 of the Horned Frogs’ 301 yards of total offense. And the big redhead earned the game’s Offensive Most Valuable Player, as well. ...

Dalton does have a strong arm. He didn't get to show it off much at TCU, but when he did, you just went "wow." It would surprise people who had no idea. I bet the NFL coaches are going to be very impressed and a little surprised themselves as they work him out.

You are right. The zip Andy had on his throws stood in stark contrast to Tolzein's wounded ducks in the Rose Bowl. And Tolzein won the Johnny Unitis Golden Arm award - LOL.
