GoFrogs: TCU Earns Third Conference Shutout

FORT WORTH – The TCU women's tennis team showcased their dominance on the court yet again with a resounding victory, securing their third shutout win in conference play on Friday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

This marks the first time in program history the Horned Frogs open conference play with three sweeps.
LEE'S THOUGHTS
"Really proud of the team for how they've worked and responded since LSU," said head coach Lee Taylor Walker. "We had a goal of dominating our first three conference matches and growing in areas of overall doubles energy and variety, as well as playing with the leads better in singles. We got a lot of successful reps in all of those things the last few matches, including tonight's match."

"We are excited to take it up a notch in competition this Sunday against UCF and then onwards next week at Oklahoma State and Kansas State. We really believe if our players come out with great energy and toughness we can beat anyone."

THE RUNDOWN
The Horned Frogs secured the doubles win with courts on one and two. Chiho Mushika and Yu-Chin Tsai earned the first win of the afternoon and sixth straight victory as a duo with a 6-4 set on court one. Jade Otway and Isabel Pascual clinched the doubles point and advanced to 5-1 as a pair with a 6-4 win on court two.

Otway took care of business on court one taking down her Cougar opponent 6-2, 6-0 on court one. The junior is now 7-0 in singles this season. Tsai was quick to follow with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Houstons Gabriela Cortes on court four. The clinch point came from Pascual on court two earning her sixth straight win of the season 6-0, 6-3.

Helena Narmont moved to 3-0 on court five with a 6-1, 6-4 over her Houston opponent before Raquel Caballero Chica took care of business on court six 6-3, 6-3.

Destinee Martins wrapped up the evening with a battle on court three. The senior fought back to take the match after dropping her first set (3-6, 6-2, 6-3).
