LEE'S THOUGHTS
"Credit to LSU for starting and finishing the match better than us today," head coach Lee Taylor Walker said. "In doubles we missed a few volleys and overheads early on and instead of recommitting to our aggressive style with confidence, we doubted and it really hurt us. I really liked our response and fight after doubles and how in control we were on every court. We led with a significant lead in 10 out of 12 sets played today, but unfortunately got hesitant and didn't close it out with conviction."
"We must learn to accept the fact that good teams are not going to give it to us and that they will fight to the end, and therefore we must step up and hit the ball with conviction and really close it out with a "take it" mentality. It's crystal clear what we need to improve and I'm confident we will grow and learn from this setback."
THE RUNDOWN
After dropping the doubles point to the Tigers, Chiho Mushika secured the first singles point. The graduate won in two sets on court six 6-4, 7-5 to stay undefeated this season (4-0). No. 116 Destinee Martins earned the second and final singles point of the afternoon for the Horned Frogs with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) win on court three. With this win, the senior advanced to 3-1 in singles this season.
Jade Otway battled in her first match of the season on court one claiming the first set 7-6 after winning the tiebreak 7-2. The junior fell 6-3 in set two and the match was completed when she was down 1-0 in set three.
