TCU Ranked 14th In Associated Press Preseason Poll

Horned Frogs were 15th in the USA Today coaches' poll

NEW YORK -- The TCU football team is ranked 14th in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 poll. Over the last 52 years in the AP preseason poll, dating back to 1959, this year's No. 14 spot is surpassed only by last season's No. 6 position.

TCU's streak of being ranked in 42 consecutive polls is the longest in school history and fourth-longest currently in the nation. The Horned Frogs have been ranked in every poll since Oct. 15, 2008.

TCU has now been ranked in the preseason poll in five of the last six seasons.

TCU returns 11 starters from last year's Rose Bowl championship team that closed the year ranked second. Over the last three seasons, TCU is the only school in the nation to be ranked in the season-ending top 10 in both the Associated Press and USA Today polls.

The Horned Frogs' average finish of No. 5 in the final AP polls over the last three seasons ranks first nationally.

TCU's 66-11 (.857) record since 2005 is the second-best mark in the nation. The Horned Frogs have won at least 10 games seven times in the last nine seasons, including six campaigns with 11 or more victories.

TCU opens the 2011 campaign Sept. 2 at Baylor. The Friday 7 p.m. game will be televised on ESPN.
