FORT WORTH - The TCU women's soccer team will kick off the 2017-18 athletic year Friday night when it host ULM at 7 p.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. The Horned Frogs are opening at home for the first time since the 2008 campaign.
TCU NOTABLES
• TCU’s roster features 15 returners and 15 newcomers.
• The Horned Frogs return 66% of their scoring from last year’s group that produced the second-best offensive output in program history.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Lund, who played nearly 72% of the minutes last season, returns between the pipes.
• Emma Heckendorn was named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Conference team.
• Freshman goalkeeper Emily Alvarado took time away from the team during preseason camp for a training camp with the Mexico U20 team.
• A trio of Frogs, Alvarado, Tayla Christensen and Ariana Owens came to TCU in the spring and participated in spring workouts.

• ULM was picked to finish eighth in the Sun Belt Conference preseason poll.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Brooke-Lynn Scroggins, a first-team all-conference performer in 2016, is the top returner for the Warhawks. She played all but 27 seconds in goal last year and tallied six shutouts.
• Also headlining the returners is Cke’Lana Caesar (3 G, 1 A) and Danielle Sabathe (2 G, 3 A), who paced the team with seven points each.

• TCU and ULM are meeting on the pitch for the first time ever.
• The Warhawks are one of five new teams on the TCU schedule this season including Colorado, Ball State, Northeastern and Kansas State.
RETURNING PRODUCTION
TCU is looking to pick up scoring where it left off a year ago as it returns more than half of its scoring this season. The 15 returners contributed 51% (19) of the goals scored, 59% (37) of the assists tallied and 66% (75) of its total points.
DEFENSIVE MINDED
TCU tied a school record in 2016 with eight shutouts, something that’s been done in three other seasons. Three of the four seasons in which the Frogs notched eight shutouts have come under the guidance of Eric Bell. Since Bell came to TCU in 2012, the Frogs have notched 35 shutouts.
NEAR AND FAR
The TCU roster is quite diversified this season with five countries represented spanning three continents (North America, Europe and Australia). Additionally, TCU has athletes from eight different states.
Tayla Christensen (New Zealand) is the farthest from home, traveling almost 7,391 miles from her home in Hamilton. Tijana Djuricek(Serbia) has travelled 5,998 miles, while Karitas Tomasdottir (Iceland) is almost 6,400 miles from home. Cachet Lue (Canada) is almost 2,000 miles from home.
Texas is the most represented state with 12 athletes, followed by three each from California, Colorado and Florida. Oklahoma has two representatives, while Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska each have one.
CHASING HISTORY
In the match versus Kansas, Heckendorn established a school record when she notched her ninth assist of the year. She has quickly ascended the career assists charts over the last three seasons and now finds herself just two assists away from tying for the career record of 18 held by Allison Calleri.
