GoFrogs: No. 5 TCU Tops Washington State In Extra Innings
FORT WORTH Luke Boyers' two-out, bases-loaded single in the 12th gave No. 5 TCU an 8-7 walk-off victory over Washington State Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. Zachary Cawyer turned in three scoreless innings of relief to get the win.

The Rundown
TCU took advantage of its only opportunity in extra frames to walk-off with the win. Sam Myers beat out an infield single to open the 12th. Back-to-back base hits from Peyton Chatagnier and Karson Bowen had the bases-loaded with nobody out. The Cougars got two outs but could not get the third as Luke Boyers delivered the walk-off base hit to left.

Zachary Cawyer (3-0) took over in the 10th. He allowed a couple of base runners and a pair of wild pitches that had the go-ahead run on third with two outs. He got a fly out to end the inning. Cawyer ultimately retired eight of the last nine batters he faced to earn the win.

The Cougars opened up the scoring with a lead-off home run in the first. TCU scored twice in the third to take a 2-1 lead. Chatagnier tripled and tied the game on a Bowen sacrifice fly. With two outs, Kurtis Byrne walked and later scored on a Payton Tolle base hit.

TCU and Washington State traded runs to make it a 4-3 ballgame. Anthony Silva delivered the two-run single for TCU in the fourth. Washington State answered with two in the fifth. Louis Rodriguez took over and left the tying run at third.

Three more runs crossed the plate in the bottom of the fifth as the Horned Frogs built a 7-3 lead. Chatagnier drove in the first run of the inning with a sacrifice fly. Singles from Bowen and Byrne also drove in runs.

Washington State forced extra innings with four runs in the ninth. Ben Abeldt was able to work out of trouble as he left the bases loaded, setting up extra innings.

Ben Hampton started and allowed three runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out five over 4 1/3 innings. Rodriguez fanned three in 1 2/3 innings. Chase Hoover and Hunter Hodges worked scoreless innings.
