Mittie Inducted Into Missouri Western State Hall Of Fame

Jeff Mittie earned his undergraduate degree from MWSU in 1989.

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU women's basketball head coach Jeff Mittie received word this week that he will be inducted into the Missouri Western State University Hall of Fame in October. Mittie, who is a native of Blue Springs, Mo., earned his undergraduate degree in sports management from Missouri Western in 1989. During his tenure at MWSU, he led the Griffons to a 76-17 (.817) mark in three years as head coach, which included a 1995 Division II Final Four appearance.

Now entering his 13th season at TCU, Mittie has led the Frogs on one of the greatest turnarounds in women's basketball history. He has guided the program to winning seasons in each of his 12 years, while taking TCU to 11 consecutive post-season tournaments, including nine NCAA Tournament berths.

Since his arrival in Fort Worth, Mittie has compiled a 260-126 (.674) record while exceeding the win total the program accomplished in the first 22 seasons of existence. Mittie's 260 victories account for 56 percent of the school's wins in 34 seasons of basketball.

Overall, Mittie has been a head coach for 19 seasons, compiling a 411-185 (.690) record. Under Mittie, the Frogs are one of only 20 programs to advance to the NCAA Tournament eight of 11 seasons since 2001. TCU currently is one of only two schools in the state of Texas to reach postseason tournaments each of the past 11 seasons.

TCU will open its 2011-12 season at Georgia on Friday, Nov. 11. Start time has yet to be announced.
