GoFrogs: Frimodt Fires Eight Birdies, Moves to Third

TRINITY, Texas – Gustav Frimodt shot 6-under 66 Tuesday to move up the leaderboard into a tie for third place after the third round of the Big 12 Men's Golf Championship.

The senior totaled eight birdies, including four during a second nine score of 4-under 32. His 6-under tied Texas' Tommy Morrison for the lowest third-round score. Only Cincinnati's Ty Gingerich's opening-round 65 has been better throughout the championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club. Gingerich leads the tournament at 8-under 208.

One of Frimodt's eight birdies came on the par 3 No. 16 hole, which measured 250 yards. No. 16 has seen just 12 birdies and has been the hardest hole of the championship so far. Frimodt's 16 birdies over three rounds are tied for the championship lead.

TCU has had two individual Big 12 Champions, Julien Brun in 2014 and Hayden Springer in 2019.

Toby Wilt shot 3-over 75 to move into a tie for 49th place at 9-over 225. Andrew Petruzzelli is in 65th after shooting 7-over 79 for a total score of 19-over 235.

As a team, TCU had its best round of the championship, shooting 12-over 300. The Horned Frogs remain in 14th place at 48-over 912.

The Horned Frogs will begin the final round on Wednesday at 9:10 a.m. on hole No. 10. Big 12 Now on ESPN+ will have coverage of the final round from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
