GoFrogs: Four Horned Frogs Qualify for NCAA Championships

FORT WORTH – TCU qualified four players for the NCAA Individual Championships ahead of Regional play.

Jake Fearnley, Jack Pinnington and were selected in singles play while Pedro Vives and Sebastian Gorzny qualified in doubles.

The NCAA Individual Championships run from May 20-25 at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, after the conclusion of the team championship. Selections were made by the NCAA D1 Men's Tennis Subcommittee.

Gorzny and Vives automatically qualified as the highest-ranked pair in the Big 12. Fearnley is seeded eighth and Pinnington will be seeded 9-16 in singles.

Fearnley became a four-time All-American with his selection. This will be his second time competing in the singles championships.

Gorzny and Vives have anchored the top of TCU's doubles lineup when healthy. The duo has produced an 8-2 record in duals and are 17-5 overall. Gorzny and Vives were semifinalists at the ITA National Fall Championships in November. The pair was an automatic qualifier and will mark their first time competing in the doubles championships.

A fifth-year senior, Fearnley is 11-2 so far in 2024 with 10 of his wins coming on court one. He has defeated the nation's two highest-ranked players in No. 1 Elliot Spizziri (Texas) and No. 2 Johannus Monday (Tennessee). Fearnley returned from a month-long injury absence in the Big 12 Championships and went 2-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles. All four of his wins were against ranked players. Fearnley was chosen for the Big 12 tournament team at No. 2 singles player and No. 1 doubles alongside Vives.

Pinnington has enjoyed a stellar sophomore campaign. He has compiled a 15-4 dual singles record with nine of the victories coming on the top court. Pinnington is a robust 13-4 against ranked foes. He was named to the ITA Indoor National Championships All-Tournament team at No. 2 singles. This marks Pinnington's first time competing in the single championships.

TCU was awarded the No. 4 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Horned Frogs begin their championship quest with a round of 64 match vs. UC Irvine at 5 p.m. on Friday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Fort Worth Regional also includes Arkansas and Cornell, with the winners of the opening round duals squaring off at 4 p.m. on Saturday for a spot in the Super Regionals.
