Our pass rush doesn’t create a lot of sacks per se, but is designed more to affect the QB and create timing issues. Not sure how that will play out w a guy like Duggan; he has better athletic abilities than a lot of the QB’s we faced this year. We were able to get after Hendon Hooker (Tennessee-six sacks)pretty good because we built a lead and forced them to pass more than they wanted. In order to do that against TCU, we’d have to shut down your run game and that is the challenge. 88 Jalin Carter needs to create issues for your OL.TCU vertical passing vs. UGa secondary will be fascinating. TCU receivers didn't get much separation on Michigan DBs and won't on the Dawgs, and I expect UGa is better limiting yards after catch. Frogs have the confidence to take shots, and Max doesn't force many balls into bad coverages, so expecting more 50-50 balls and back-shoulder throws than usual. TCU will need to win a bunch of those battles with no more than 1 INT to have a chance. But I'm not sold that Max will have time to throw--the UGa pass rush may be a notch down from last season but I expect heavy pressure early. Max will need to make some plays with his feet to give the vertical passing game a chance.
On the other side, I'm interested to see if Gillespie comes up with anything to limit Bowers up the seam. Nightmares about that guy.
Speaking of TCU OLine, I saw an interview with one of your guards today. Big red headed kid that looked and talked like a 38 year wildcatter off a west Texas oil rig; I liked him immensely.
Bowers is a threat anytime he touches the ball. He’s pretty fast for a “Californian” and he has some amazing hands.
Two key elements for UGA is
1) Getting to Duggan and limiting his runs & throws. I think he’s the key to TCUs success.
2) Zone or man on you WR’s ?? We switch up a good bit there. If Ringo is having a good day, expect a lot of man and that is a positive for UGA DB’s I think.
All in all, our DB’s will only be as good as the DL plays.
