You've got a big game coming. Big game, big crowd, big viewing audience--it's a national stage. It's what you've worked your whole life for. What most of us would give our left nut for.
You know what it's taken to get here. You know the journey—bustin’ your ass for a shot at big-time football—bleedin', sweatin', and sacrificin' every day of the year, and the payoff is finally here. Your chance to show the world what you know in your heart—you’re not an upstart—you’re not “lucky to be here”—you’re champions.
Oklahoma is coming to Arlington. It’s a storied program, one that deserves every bit of the respect it’s earned over the years. But ours is no less a tradition of excellence. We’ve fought and clawed our way from the hinterlands of college football to the top of the top conference in college football. Sun Tzu said that a man who knows himself and his enemy doesn’t need to fear a hundred battles. That a man who knows himself, but not his enemy, will lose one for each one he wins, and one who doesn’t know himself or his enemy is destined to lose them all. Well, I know we know ourselves. And it’s pretty evident who they are. They left confident after their tOSU win and went straight to cocky, led by the cockiest SOB in the nation. And that’s their weakness. They don’t know—and don’t care to know—their enemy in this one. They think they can walk on the field and we’ll lay down for 'em because they’re the Sooners and every babbling talking heads says they’re going to win this game. Well, I’ve got news for ‘em—they’re not.
It's gonna be a circus before the game. Soak it all in before kickoff--because it's where you belong and it's where we spent 20 long, hard, years to get. Remember all those who came before you that made the same sacrifices, gave their all, and never had the stage you're stepping onto this week. Then, when time comes to line up for the kickoff, block it all out. Focus all your energy and concentration on doing what you know has to be done for 60 minutes. You do that, and victory will be ours. And know this--you win this game and it will be remembered by millions of people for the rest of their lives. It will be something that no one can ever take away from you and that will be a source of pride for you no matter what happens from that day forward. Keep that in mind when you step on that field. Then you'll know what to do.
Horned Frogs--prepare for battle! Millions of fans across the country will be cheering you on, pulling for a team they love against a team they love to hate! The ghosts of Dutch and Abe and Jim are stirring, rising up to stalk the sidelines in Arlington—calling for retribution, crying out for victory! ANSWER THAT CALL! Rise up Horned Frogs! On to Arlington! ON TO VICTORY!
