Scouting report: Right-hander Stefan Crichton gets his first start tonight. The freshman threw 2 1/3 innings of hitless relief at Baylor last week and earned a save in his first appearance. He'll face Patriots senior right-hander Brandon Williamson, who beat TCU with a complete game last season.
Rounding home: TCU freshman infielder Brett Johnson made several tough plays at first base and had a triple in his first start Sunday against Cal State Fullerton. He started in place of Joe Weik, who began the season 1 for 21. TCU hopes catcher Josh Elander (hip bruise) will be available later this week after missing the past five games. -- Stefan Stevenson
