What was initially just a thought now has conversations behind it.

According to sources, Texas and Gary Patterson have chatted about the former TCU head football coach joining Steve Sarkisian’s staff in some capacity, likely as a defensive analyst. One course close to Patterson said that he is not planning to make a “fast decision” and will weigh his options.

For the last few years Patterson has told friends that whenever he left TCU he envisioned a scenario where he could join a coaching staff in this role, or potentially as a defensive coordinator.

Gary, three things for you to consider for your future endeavors-don't look petty, don't regress and GO WEST. 1- It would look petty and small of you to work for another B12 school. And what good will would you gain and lose-it ain't worth it. 2-For the sake of the reputation you have built, do not take a G5 job. You don't have the time to build another TCU and do you really want your legacy to include a finish at a school like Texas State? Image Fran after stints at two big deal universities ending up in nowhereland? 3-GO WEST! Become the DC at USC. Spend a year or two there with Lincoln. He is a fan of yours anyway. Think about it-two of the best minds in football teaming up to make a powerhouse. Come up with a new defensive scheme. A move like this would dispell all the negatives about you not being able to adapt. P5 schools would throw themselves at you and you could pick one to finally win the national championship you have always wanted. And for the sake of all that is holy-NO UT for a lot of reasons.

Gary do whatever you want. You have earned that right and you owe us nothing.

Everything and everywhere has its good and bad points. I wish you the best of luck.

But you would look awful in burnt orange.
He would just wear black…

It’s Muck, I am not buying pertaining to sources. He always throws stuff against the wall and hope it sticks. He misses 95% of the time.

GP and Kelsey went visited Deloss Dodds a few weeks ago. Supposedly a connected source at the other board said GP was in CDC’s suite. GP shot down the rumor said they were visiting Dodds and that sitting CDC’s suite would have been a big no no since he wasn’t formally separated from TCU at that point.

Just my opinion. GP needs a break and will take it. He will only get back into coaching for the right opportunity. He is not going to be anything less than a HC. Why would he accept less? GP is not a fan of free transfers and NIL. Makes little sense for him to get back into CFB coaching unless he changes his thinking on that.

Muck is an idiot and does not care about facts but just whatever narrative he wants to push. Muck is just a reflection of the current state of our media today.

Gary not getting a coaching job this year, so I could see him going as an analyst like Coach Dykes. At UT it will backfire when the entire staff gets canned next year after a 5-7 season and fright about going to the SEC. Oh, and our former AD will be looking for an analyst job too.

When you break up with someone you don't get to tell them who they can date next but.....man seeing Gary in Burnt Orange would just feel wrong.
When there's a buyout involved, you often do. I wonder if there was a buyout with reduced payout if he takes another job, especially in the B12?
