Then came TV networks flashing big dollars. Oh, the temptation.

Now, it's all serial soap operas, with flirting and wooing, transient unions and quickie divorces.

After years of pining and trying relationships on for size, maybe TCU has found true love -- and without the long-distance romance the Frogs had committed to with great fervor not long ago.

Big 12 interim commissioner Chuck Neinas gave several reasons why inviting TCU looked inviting, including academics, according to Star-Telegram reporter Stefan Stevenson. But did this factor loom largest?: "Fox and ESPN rated TCU very highly."Could be that TCU's years in the Western Athletic Conference, Conference USA and the Mountain West weren't mere dalliances but fertile opportunities to win name ID -- maybe even fans -- in such far-flung locales as Provo, Utah, and Greenville, N.C.

Funny how the networks like little ole TCU. Also interesting that conference hopping has put our name out to the world from sea to shining sea.
