DMN: What we learned at Big 12 media days and what it really means

More than anything, Big 12 media days served to crystallize how the football balance of power has so quickly changed in the league.
TCU quarterback and Heisman contender Trevone Boykin was surrounded by media on Monday, as was coach Gary Patterson, prompting one conference observer to say: “Where were we these people last year?”
Call it the difference between 4-8 and 12-1.
A day later, Art Briles did his best football coach imitation out of “Friday Night Lights” and won media days. In the past, Briles could steal the spotlight after going 7-6. Now he’s seeking a three-peat at Baylor, which won exactly three Big 12 games from 1999-2004. ...
