Boston Herald: Joe Andruzzi thinking of Cannon
By Karen Guregian
Joe Andruzzi was part of three Super Bowl championships when he was with the Patriots [team stats]. As an offensive lineman, he was one of Tom Brady [stats]’s chief bodyguards.
He is also a cancer survivor.
That’s why it really struck a chord with him when the Patriots selected offensive lineman Marcus Cannon in the fifth round of last month’s NFL draft.
Cannon, once thought to be a top-50 pick, saw his stock plummet after a recent cancer diagnosis. During the scouting combine, it was discovered the TCU lineman had non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was just a day removed from his first round of chemotherapy when coach Bill Belichick made the call and welcomed him to the Patriots.
