The Cost of Losing Briles
"Current Senior, seems as though this is an unpopular opinion or that most students don't care about the politics and bureaucracy beyond "did we win the game?" so looking for some input here.

The cost of firing Art Briles, regardless of his guilt on any of the proposed offenses, was too great. CAB single-handedly increased the quality of Baylor's incoming Freshmen classes (the whole student body, not just recruiting classes), increased donations by alumni to the university, and gave Baylor a national presence.

Baylor was taken down by an incompetent BOR and an antagonistic media that needlessly targeted a school that lacked significantly more or less occurrences of sexual assault/harassment than any other P5 school. Now Baylor has become the joke of the Big XII, hiring a Coach who is astoundingly unwilling to compromise and clearly incapable of adapting to the style of offense needed for success in the Big XII. I cannot express how frustrating it was watching Solomon fail to connect with wide open receivers and panic under pressure, and how much more frustrating it was watching him sent out again and again each drive. We're going to see kids change their commitments and we're going to see high profile players transfer, a loss to an FCS team with this caliber of players is never acceptable - I do not believe Baylor will ever be relevant under Rhule unless he radically alters his strategy."

"The kids could really win my heart with a few cutting signs, or even a "Coach Art Briles"

Either they are amazingly willfully ignorant or truly mentally ill as you say. I just can't understand how they can't wrap their heads around the fact that the reason they, in their minds, have the lowest occurrences of sexual assault is because Baylor willfully avoiding reporting any!! It's insane to me.

How perverse is it to be pleased with the misfortune of others than to just be displeased with another person's good fortune?

The major reason for being pleased with the misfortune of another University or football program is that our misfortune may somehow benefit them; for one it means they will beat us...but the major aspect is that it emphasizes their superiority.

We've all experienced the media's enjoyment, the 30k replies on threads dedicated to getting off to our demise, fans being called rapists etc. Even lawsuits insinuating that women at Baylor were willing to ***** themselves out for football with absolutley no proof at all. Yes, people are calling innocent women at Baylor wh0res...because "muh Baylor deserves it".

It's disgusting.

It is another threat to this University, students and alumni.

...and it's times like this where we really need someone to be a backbone and defend us. That's really the missing piece of the puzzle at Baylor. No one is here to defend us.

It has nothign to do with winning and everything to do with a reputation we're trying to rebuild.

The argument is that we deserve this...um no. 99% of the people associated with Baylor don't deserve ANY of this, we didn't contribute to this.

But where does this hate directed at us come from?

Low self-esteem.

When you have low self-esteem, you will do almost anything to feel better, and when you're confronted with the misfortune of others, you feel schadenfreude.

So the next time you feel like you're feeling down as a Baylor fan, or people are insinuating that you should feel ashamed...don't.

...remember that it has more to do with their own issues than ours.

Sorry for the rant, just trying to help you guys feel better!

I guess the entire country, actually more than that (Canada), has low self esteem.

Wait a minute. He's saying rival fans are calling innocent Baylor women bad names? Um no, Rammage. It's you and your disgusting fans, coaches, administrators, and regents that are calling innocent women things like "cleat chasers," "sluts," "jungle fever," "perverted little tarts," and worse. Check your rapefans archives. It's you and your ilk that are calling the women that, NOT the rival fans.

Darn baylor!
I work in an office and pretty much every one of them is a ohio state fan. This morning they were talking about the loss to Oklahoma when a co-worker said "At least we aren't baylor" and went on to explain to the others about baylors loss to UTSA. I kept my mouth shut. I sure did enjoy this last weekend.

My answer to that is we read Baylor Fans (sicem365) and that is why we are enjoying this.

Never before have so many people lacked the ability to see themselves as others see them. Of course the college sports fan is delighted to see the BU enablers get their comeuppance. Briles recruited bad characters, encouraged them to play dirty and cheat, filled his staff with an amen corner who bought into his methods and allowed his players to act like bullies on and off the field. The fans loved it and the admin looked the other way. Now the decent people associated with the University are left to pay the financial cost in millions of dollars while the victims of these criminals they brought to campus try to piece their lives back together.
