AP: TCU-ex Andy Dalton reaches 3,000 yards passing in Bengals win

Associated Press

ST. LOUIS — The Cincinnati Bengals got another big day from rookie A.J. Green. They made enough big stops on defense, too, to stay in the AFC playoff race.

Green had six catches for 115 yards to top 1,000 yards receiving and the St. Louis Rams, led by a quarterback still learning the personnel, were just 2 for 13 on third down in Cincinnati's 20-13 victory Sunday. The Bengals (8-6), who had lost four of five, are tied with the Jets for the final wild-card spot and finish with home games against Arizona and Baltimore.

“The only thing we can control is us,” coach Marvin Lewis said. “That's all we've got to keep worried about it. It's good to win.”

Andy Dalton, the former TCU quarterback who was selected by the Bengals in the second round of the NFL Draft (35th overall), reached the 3,000 yards passing mark. While he only had 179 yards passing in Sunday’s game, he stands at 3,012 yards with two games remaining this season — home games against Arizona and Baltimore. ...

Yesterday was not a good game by Andy. Really was hoping for him to have a big game against a terrible Rams D, and he was disappointing, to say the least. Hope he figures it out before the finale against the Ravens.

I thought Andy played fine. That pick was not a bad throw. Good play by dback. And Andy made a good play to keep him from taking it to the house.

Bengals main problem was short yardage situation running and stupid o-line procedure flags. Geez.

Hopefully close out with two wins to make playoffs. Though that may come at LT and JKerley's expense with the Jets.
