Two area baseball players will take one final bow on the stage as high school players this weekend in front of the rest of the state.
Canyon's Derek Odell and Borger's Garrett Irwin have been selected to play for the North squads in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association all-star games at Round Rock's Dell Diamond.
... Odell was a four-year starter at shortstop for Canyon and as a senior hit .453 with six home runs and 49 RBIs, helping the Eagles claim a share of the District 3-4A championship. He has signed to play for Texas Christian but was also selected in the 42nd round of the major league draft by the Boston Red Sox this month.
