FORT WORTH — As far as TCU coach Gary Patterson is concerned, any talk about whether the Horned Frogs are the best team in Texas — let alone the nation — is premature.
Saturday’s 38-7 homecoming victory over Air Force left TCU as one of seven remaining unbeaten teams in the country, and Oklahoma’s loss at Missouri means the Frogs will likely move up a spot from No. 5 in the BCS rankings.
“Right now, we’re trying to be the best team in the Mountain West Conference,” Patterson said.
“You guys (media) all want to talk about playing for the national championship. The only way you can do that is to win a conference championship.” ...
