TCU continued to see success for their former players in the 2023 NFL Draft on Saturday as former linebacker Dee Winters was selected in the sixth round by the San Francisco 49ers. Winters is the seventh Frog to be drafted, joining Quentin Johnston (1st), Steve Avila (2nd), Kendre Miller (3rd), Dylan Horton (4th), Derius Davis (4th) and Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson.
Winters is the second TCU linebacker to be drafted in the past three drafts, joining Garret Wallow, who was drafted by the Texans in 2021.
Winters appeared in 48 games in his TCU career, racking up 246 tackles with 33.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks and 3 interceptions. As a senior in TCU's big run to the CFB National Championship game, Winters totaled 79 tackles and tied for the team lead with 14.5 tackles for loss. In the Frogs' win over Michigan in the playoff semifinal, Winters totaled 7 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown. He was named the game's Defensive MVP.
