At the beginning of the third quarter it seemed we let the DL loose to bull rush and just junk things up. It worked for a time. I’m not sure if they adjusted or we stopped, but this needs to happen constantly. It’s the only way the defense seems effective. It frees up lanes for blitzes, slows plays down, and let’s the smaller players find angles to attack.

Gary’s D tackles rarely pushed up field by design. Now we run that with one less DL.

Our anemic offense puts a ton of pressure on the defense.

We have the lowest time of possession in our conference.

We run the most offensive plays per game in the B12. (Yay, we’re #1)

We have the worst Red Zone conversion % in the conf. (We don’t finish drives)

We are 10th/14 in punts per game. (1st being fewest punts per game, aka we 3 and out a ton)

Only 4 teams throw more INTs per game than us in conf.

Defense is on the field all game and we run plays so quickly and punt so often they don’t get a break between series. Outside of KSU, they’re doing a pretty decent job, all things considered.

When the opponents snap the ball, the D just stands up and watches…no one is firing down hill. Our safeties are 15 or 20 yards back. The ball carriers have a 15 yard running start at them. They don’t have a prayer of trying to tackle someone. On pass plays the receivers have the same 15 yard head start. One move and they’re by us. As jugband would say…this scheme is trash!
What's more rediculous about the safeties being 15-20 yards deep is that they don't start running with the receiver until the receiver has already reached them, which allows them to burn the safeties deep anyways. Might as well just play them up close so you can help with swing passes and jet sweeps.
