Scrimmage observations

This team is going to be very explosive on Offense.. Chandler looked clearly the better, despite playing just a couple of series,.. I believe he‘s going to be the starter in CO. Max struggled with some accuracy, though he did throw a short pass to Bailey that went for a long 6. Sam Jackson played several series and looks much improved on his passing from the spring, he’s going to get some playing time this season... We are stacked at RB, Bailey is a nice addition to the rotation. Lots of TE rotations too.

O line looks quite improved with depth, not much fall off between the 1’s and 2’s, both played well.

D ... the talent is there, it just looks very different than the GP defense‘s we had become used to watching, they play very close to the line of scrimmage, pressure from a different spot on every play, If they play well this team can be really, really good.

5 or 6 starters didn’t play and it was mostly a show nothing event but I agree that it feels like Chandler has probably won the job. Sam has had the most growth but he also started really far behind the others. He needs to cook a little longer

the comments savion williams made about sam were really interesting when you consider savio'ns athletic ability

He’s not just Uber athletic but he also has the best arm and most polished mechanics of any our QBs. His issues are all experience and rep related. Covid killed his Sr year of HS football in Illinois and he had barely played the position up to that point. He needs tons of reps and time. Could be special if he can remain patient

Felt like our former D was based on everyone being in the perfect position and the D play call had to be perfect or we just got torched. I think our conference foes figured it out after a number of years. I hope the athletes we have on D have a chance to show their ability and the freedom to make plays.

agree, have said before i would love to read or hear from shannon or someone else who played in the frogs' defense when we saw the defensive reputation rightfully being earned all that went into a play on the field

getting the call in with another time for the defenders to read and recognize, everyone syncing up as a unit, and then the execution

don't think gary ever found another defensive coach who he called signal in sync with how he and bumpus paired their calls, the hurry up offenses reducing time for calls and reads, an offense like baylor which really did play by the conventional down and distance mentality, the decline in execution (i.e. tackling) and then the emergence of the rpo game which allowed the offenses to adjust after the snap

He made a couple of nice throws, agreed he has a very underrated arm... would not be surprised if he moved past Max on the depth chart by the end of the season... he is special

The Offense is ahead of the Defense. The Offense looked good and the Qb's all made pretty good throws. Morris didn't play that much, but had a nice TD pass to Jordan Hudson......... Talk about special, Hudson is going to be a great player.
The O-line looks really solid.
TE's dropped a few balls, and #9 Bailey was the star of the practice.

We have a lot of talent on Offense.

The DEFENSE............................. UHHHHHHHHHHHH
They are going to give up a lot of points and big plays.
TCU will just have to outscore opponents in most of its games, unfortunately.

Best arm is Duggan, best mechanics and best ability to read and react is Morris, best mobility and quickest release is Jackson.

Good thing is the kicking game has a chance to improve because we have an actual special teams coach.

no shock when you consider the talent on the offensive side of the ball and the adjustment for them is in a system that is designed to maximize their talents whereas on the defensive side of the ball they are having to be retaught, retrained, and their confidence restored
