Disturbing story involving Oregon State's best pitcher

This is one of those differences of opinion that time will certainly settle. May be wrong, I know, but I still bet that if this guy is as good as they say, he'll be pitching in the MLs before too long, and his bank account will show it.

You said as a signing bonus.

Will he play for Oregon state going forward?
Probably. According to the article, at least someone at Oregon State knew ("Oregon State does learn when a student is a registered sex offender, according to university spokesman Steve Clark.") and it's a 6 year old crime for which he was already convicted. It'd just be reactionary to remove him from the team now.

only because the public knows now.

Every one of those teams has run a background check on the top prospects on their list and thus they knew about it.

Just like Oregon State has known about it.

The difference is now the PUBLIC knows about it...and so they won't take the heat
Since this happened when he was a minor, wouldn't the records be sealed against a background check?

Yeah they can't do really anything now, but why was he given that chance? Assuming he signed with them out of high school, the crime was only 2 years old at that point.
