New East Side rendition photos

Double D

Exactly. The East stands will be much higher than current stands so new East facade looks short in these photos.

Keep in mind that east side deck is significantly taller than the current one, so the east side facade is also going to be taller, even with some of the stands exposed.

I am less concerned with overall design than I am with execution. The architects did a fine job -- we can debate the minor points, but that's all a matter of opinion -- but the contractors have been awful. Most of the work that has been done on the stadium has been very sloppy, ruining the overall effect.

A lot of shoddy worksmanship has gone into this stadium, which I assume was a money-saving decision by TCU. The result will be a stadium with a lot of unfulfilled potential.

Many thanks to the OP for the new pictures.

Please explain. What shoddy workmanship are you referring to?

No response I guess on what the OP thought was shoddy workmanship, but the thought that TCU was somehow sanctioning shoddy workmanship as a money saving decision is ridiculous. No one pays $160+million for someone to do a poor job of executing the plans.

Long as its not empty it will look great.

TCU averaged over 42,000 per game in 2010, prior to renovation, playing against MWC favorites like New Mexico, Colorado State and UNLV.

Any guesses on what average attendance will look like in 2012 in the B12?
And how quickly season ticket sales go above 30,000?

Looks good.....................Boise State is finally getting rid of their track, won't be there next year and adding 3,000 seats.

Good for Boise. Best of luck in the BE, or where ever you end up short-term. Long term, if you keep growing your facilities, I suspect you have as good a chance of not being left behind as anyone not named "University of [Big State]".

Explain please

I will say, the renditions do look pretty weak... hate to admit it, but it looks like a doube A baseball venue (I know we're going after the Camden Yards look//) but it is my hope that this is a temporary fix to the east side before it is eventually expanded to its desired capacity. that's my guess..

regardless, it will be awesome from the inside...

Sometimes I really wish you would THINK before speaking, or writing in this case.

You do realize these are simply ARCHITECTURAL RENDITIONS, right? They are meant to accentuate the structure, not the landscape, not the decor. All this does is highlight the building, not the finished product. Big difference.

Armadillo - Do you have any background in Architecture? I am asking a serious question because I am wanting to know if you feel these (Architectureal Renditions) could be scaled back from the actual building structure to be built. I too am pleased with what is happening with the stadium renovation, but would be even happier with a little more detailed brick decor. Go Frogs!!

The only potential weak spot I see of the west side (and this may have an intentional purpose that I am unaware of) is the 1-foot-wide gap in the uppermost deck just north of the 50 yard line. It's such a big gap in the concrete that you can see it from stadium drive.

There may be some good reason for this, but I noticed the gap last summer and expected it to get covered but as of yet it is still there. I don't have a good enough camera to capture it but I'd bet 82Frog definitely could.

Next time you're at the stadium, look into the upper deck just to the scoreboard side of the 50. You'll see the gap right where two large portions of concrete are supposed to join together.

Other than that I absolutely love the stadium.

Yeah, I wonder what that is.
