Worcester Telegram: Patriots pick loaded Cannon in fifth round

FOXBORO — Yesterday, the Patriots selected former Texas Christian offensive lineman Marcus Cannon in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. It was a momentous occasion for Cannon and his family, and one that, for a little while anyway, helped take his mind off another significant circumstance in the 22-year-old’s life.
Cannon was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He began chemotherapy treatments Thursday, the first day of the draft.
“Me and my family are here celebrating,” Cannon said via conference call from Texas. “We couldn’t care less about the other part right now. We’re just real happy to be in the NFL.” ...
